Since 1997

Dr. Salman Alhajri is an associate professor of Graphic Design, at the Department of Art Education at Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman. He also is an active artist, graphic designer and researcher in the field of Arts and Art Education. In 2020, Alhajri was promoted to the academic rank of “Associate Professor”. In 2013, Alhajri graduated with a PhD in Philosophy from Loughborough University in UK, with a thesis that focused on Creativity theories, and Arts and graphic design pedagogy. In 2005, Alhajri earned a Master’s degree in design from the University of Technology in Sydney.

Since 2000

Alhajri has published one book and more than 16 peer-reviewed papers in respected Journals and conference proceedings conducted in several international and local capitals and cites (e.g. London, Glasgow, Loughborough, Rome, Dubrovnik (Croatia), Chicago, Kobe (Japan), Brunei, Amman, Manama, Dubai, and many other countries) in the period between 2010 and 2020. Alhajri has taught the courses of graphic design, digital arts, 3D printing, and the arts of new multimedia for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr. Salman has also conducted many workshops and lectures on these fields for university students in both governmental and private universities inside and outside Oman. Moreover, he gave training for the university staff and other employees working in ministries and governmental institutions in Oman.

Since 1994

As an artist, Alhajri is regarded as a well-known and active Omani artist especially in developing Arts in Oman. He conducted seven solo exhibitions in the period between 2015 and 2019 and participated in more than 40 group exhibitions inside and outside Oman. Alhajri has won more than 12 awards and prizes since 2000. One of them was the bronze award of design in the largest world's design competition known as “A' Design Award & Competition” in Italy in 2014. His artworks were exhibited in different international exhibitions and arts galleries such as Art Shopping in Carrousel Du Louvre (in the Louvre museum in Paris), New York, London, Beijing, Kuwait, Doha, Dubai, Riyadh, Melbourne (Australia), Muscat, and others. Alhajri is a member in the Omani Society for Fine Arts and the Youth Studio as well as a member in many technical scientific and international academic institutions.

Since 2016

Alhajri has developed his own artistic style in painting and promoted “Digital Arabic Calligraphy” in 2008 and “PhonArt” in 2014 in contemporary vision which represents his rhetoric, thoughts and understanding. He presented his own artistic style, experiences, philosophy with a contemporary vision that is distinguished by its simplicity, color harmony, and composition. His work is distinguished also by the diversity of the arts practices including abstract, expressive, digital art, and Arabic calligraphy. His artworks were collected by several governmental and private institutions and individuals including His Majesty Sultan Qaboos (MHRIP), Sultan Haji Hassan al Bolkiah (Sultan of Brunei), Prince Charles, Qasr Al Alam Palace, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Sohar, Dhofar Municipality Salalah, and many other institutions.
